FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact: Laurie Carr, CEO P.O. Roseville, Minnesota, September 9, 2003 - Continuing with their mission of offering arts and crafts customers the best online shopping experience possible, Midwest Craft Fair has just added the "Virtual Village" to its site, www.MidwestCraftFair.com. In line with the rest of the site, items presented in the "Virtual Village" will be handmade and handcrafted. The "Virtual Village" is the place to find items from your favorite consignment and gift shops. The site expansion will not only provide an online opportunity to more artisans but will be enhancing the shopping experience for the customer, too. "We at Midwest Craft Fair always take into consideration the needs of both the artisans and the customers. This is a key way in which we differ from other craft sites," says Annette Magnuson, the company's head of marketing. "And this is where we really shine!" Dana Thompson, also with Midwest Craft Fair, considers the problems of leveraging technology for small businesses. "Shops, as small businesses, often struggle with the cost and use of technology even if they recognize the opportunity it offers them. Our new "Virtual Village" offering makes it fast and easy for shops to begin selling online and ensures secure shopping for their customers." Midwest Craft Fair's "Virtual Village" has a variety of participation options some of which allow the shop to maintain its own identity. Check out The Farmer's Daughter Shop in the Virtual Village at www.MidwestCraftFair.com. Lynn Hennings owns The Farmer's Daughter shop in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and is the first citizen of the Virtual Village. She opened her shop this last March but figured an online site to go with it was a couple of years away. "Guess what?" says Lynn. "I'm already online! The ladies at Midwest Craft Fair made it so easy for me there was no reason not to do it immediately. My artisans are excited, too. We are all in a state of shock - but it's good 'shock' and we are all pleased to be able to tell our customers to 'See us at the fair!'". |
